Baku, Azerbaijan – November 14, 2024 – In a significant move towards advancing global cooperation for climate resilience and sustainable development, the Association of Professional Social Workers and Development Practitioners (APSWDP), a Chandigarh-based civil society organization, signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading organizations during the prestigious COP 29 summit in Baku.
These strategic partnerships aim to leverage collective expertise and resources to address critical environmental and socio-economic challenges while promoting innovative and community-centric solutions. The MoUs signed include collaborations with the following esteemed organizations:
- KReate Foundation (Bangalore, India) – A public charitable trust dedicated to fostering sustainable development and community-driven initiatives.
- Young Environmentalists Programme Trust (YEPT) (Mumbai, India) – An organization committed to educating and mobilizing youth for environmental action.
- Native Ideas for Sustainability Research and Governance (NISRG) (Mumbai, India) – Focused on sustainability research and policy advocacy.
- Terrasols Solutions Private Limited (Greater Noida, India) – An enterprise specializing in environmental solutions and sustainable innovation.
- Azerbaijan Democratic Student and Youth Organization (ADSAYO) (Baku, Azerbaijan) – A leading youth organization championing climate awareness, education, and urban development.
- International Carbon Neutrality Industry Research Organization (London, UK) – Dedicated to carbon neutrality research and strategies for achieving net-zero goals.
- IGNITING MINDS Organization (Hyderabad, India) – Engaged in empowering communities through education and environmental awareness.
- The Indigenous People’s Climate Justice Forum (Assam, India) – Focused on climate justice and the rights of indigenous communities.
The MoUs set the stage for collaboration in education, research, skill development, capacity building, knowledge sharing and project execution, all aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They emphasize organizing high-level dialogues, workshops, and seminars to build capacity, foster knowledge sharing, and encourage sustainability-focused innovation both locally and globally.
Dr. Vivek Trivedi, Founder of APSWDP, commented on the partnerships: “These collaborations signify a unified step towards climate resilience, sustainability, and inclusive community development. The MoUs mark APSWDP’s commitment to accelerating sustainable action through joint projects and capacity-building programs. The alliances will facilitate research, policy development, and the mobilization of youth and educators to create a positive change in their communities.
APSWDP launched a report, titled “Advancing Sustainable Urban Future:: Best Practices and Strategic Pathways,” outlines comprehensive insights and practical solutions for driving sustainable development at local and international levels discussed in IEDASUF-2024.
In addition, APSWDP proudly introduced its new journal, “International Journal of Social Work and Sustainable Development” dedicated to disseminating research and expert perspectives on climate change, environmental policy, and innovative community development practices. This journal aims to be a platform for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to share findings, foster discussions, and propose actionable solutions for sustainable development.
Dr. Anshu Kumar, Hon. Director International Relations APSWDP, spoke at the event, stating, “The release of these two publications marks an essential step in our journey towards empowering communities and influencing policies for a sustainable future. By sharing our collective knowledge, experiences, and innovations, we aim to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and inspire concerted action across all levels of society.”
Mr. Karamveer Singh, Hon. CEO, APSWDP asserted in the deliberation that Youth Engagement is the need of the hour and development agenda alone can not be achieved without engaging youth in policy making and implementation. He further shared that the partnership which is evolved at COP 29 will bring concrete outcome in future towards making a sustainable world.
