Submission Guidelines
- Submissions must be prepared in the prescribed IJSWSD Paper Template.
- Manuscripts should be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). For those using LaTeX, kindly submit in PDF format.
- A signed Copyright Transfer Form (signed by the corresponding author) must accompany all submissions. Without this form, manuscripts will not be forwarded for review.
- Submissions in multiple journals simultaneously are strictly prohibited.

The responsibilities of editors, reviewers, and authors are clearly defined to ensure the integrity, transparency, and quality of published work.
Editors’ Responsibilities
- Scope and Policy: Editors define the journal’s scope and editorial policies, ensuring alignment with its mission and objectives.
- Quality Assurance: Editors are accountable for the content quality and organize the journal according to established publication standards.
- Peer Review Coordination: Editors invite two or more reviewers with subject expertise to evaluate each manuscript. Manuscripts may be rejected without external review if they fall outside the journal’s scope, lack scientific merit, or fail to meet quality standards.
- Decision-Making: Editors consolidate reviewer feedback and communicate the final decision (accept, revise, or reject) to authors transparently.
- Conflict of Interest: Editors must avoid conflicts of interest with authors, reviewers, and editorial staff.
- Confidentiality: Editors safeguard the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and ensure that reviewers and assistants do the same.
- Ethical Oversight: Editors handle ethical concerns, including plagiarism, data falsification, and authorship disputes, according to international ethical guidelines.
- Corrections and Retractions: Significant errors, retractions, or concerns will be addressed through corrections or notices in published articles.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
- Expert Evaluation: Reviewers volunteer their time and expertise to provide objective, constructive feedback on manuscripts, assessing scientific accuracy, originality, and relevance.
- Timely Reports: Reviewers are expected to complete their reviews within the stipulated timeframe and communicate if they are unable to meet the deadline.
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the manuscripts and refrain from contacting authors directly or sharing manuscript content.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should notify the editor of any conflicts of interest with the manuscript’s authors or content and recuse themselves if necessary.
- Ethical Checks: Reviewers should alert editors to ethical concerns, such as research misconduct, similarity with published work, or issues involving the use of humans, animals, or genetically modified organisms in research.
- Recommendations: Reviewers may recommend the manuscript for acceptance, revision, or rejection, based on its scientific and scholarly merit.
Authors’ Responsibilities
- Originality and Ethical Standards: Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original, free from plagiarism, and adhere to ethical standards prescribed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Exclusive Submission: Manuscripts submitted to IJSWSD must not be under consideration elsewhere.
- Format and Guidelines: Manuscripts should comply with the journal’s technical, grammatical, and formatting guidelines.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any personal or financial conflicts of interest and sources of research funding.
- Human and Animal Research Compliance: Authors should state adherence to international norms and obtain necessary permissions for using human participants, animals, or genetically modified organisms in research.
- Revisions: Authors should address reviewers’ comments and submit revised manuscripts, along with a detailed response or rebuttal, within the specified timeline.
- Acknowledgments: Contributions from non-authors and funding sources should be acknowledged appropriately.
- Data Integrity: Authors must ensure the validity of their data and be prepared to provide supporting information upon request. Manipulated or falsified data will be addressed per COPE guidelines.
- Proofing: Authors are responsible for proofreading the galley proof and responding with corrections within 24–48 hours. If no response is received, the manuscript will proceed to publication as is.
Review Process
The International Journal of Social Work and Sustainable Development (IJSWSD) upholds a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality, original research. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by two independent reviewers under a double-blind peer-review system, where both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
Steps in the Review Process
- Initial Review:
- The Editor-in-Chief reviews each submission to ensure its alignment with the journal’s scope and standards.
- Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum criteria are returned to authors within one week, allowing authors to make improvements or submit to a more suitable venue.
- Peer Review:
- Manuscripts that pass the initial review are assigned to an Associate Editor, who selects reviewers based on expertise in the relevant field.
- Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees, evaluating:
- Originality and novelty
- Clarity and completeness
- Methodological soundness
- Research significance and contribution
- Relevance to the journal’s scope
- Review outcomes include:
- Clear Reject
- Reconsider after Major Revision
- Reconsider after Minor Revision
- Accept as it is
- Recommendation and Final Decision:
- Based on reviewer feedback and the Associate Editor’s recommendation, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision. The possible decisions are:

- Decline Submission
- Authors must submit revised manuscripts within 10 days of receiving feedback. Revisions are typically reviewed by the original referees.
- Based on reviewer feedback and the Associate Editor’s recommendation, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision. The possible decisions are:
- Final Acceptance:
- Manuscripts may undergo multiple review cycles before final acceptance.
- Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication in an appropriate journal issue, with authors notified accordingly.
Peer Review Purpose
The peer review process serves to:
- Ensure the scientific merit and validity of the research.
- Select work that is relevant and impactful for the journal’s readership.
- Improve the quality of manuscripts whenever possible.
- Safeguard against research malfeasance or dishonesty.
- Help editors make informed decisions on manuscript suitability.
Final Proof of the Paper
- Accepted manuscripts are sent as PDF proofs to the corresponding author for final checks.
- Authors should carefully review the proofs for:
- Typesetting and formatting
- Completeness and accuracy of text, tables, and figures
- Corrections must be submitted within 5 days, listing line numbers for clarity.
- No major changes to the content will be allowed at this stage without prior permission.
- If no response is received within 7 days, the manuscript will be published as is.
